Why Building Strength Should Be Your Main Goal

If you are wondering why I concentrate on strength training to a great extent and think you should too in that case this article will tell you why.

1. Strength Training Is More Useful:

5. Better For Well-being:

There’s been a lot of recent research that shows strength training helps to prevent age related diseases and degenerative diseases.

In short: Losing muscle mass is an unavoidable effect of aging, but strength training in particular will tell your body to “hold on” to muscle mass for it needs it to continue lifting bulky stuff.

And also, your bones will become stronger as well to support your framework of muscle mass.

6. Builds Up Self-Confidence

There’s nothing better than KNOWING you can pick a heavy weight off the floor or press a heavy weight up above your head. Or knowing that you have the strength to pull yourself up and over a wall up and over the edge of a cliff and things like that.

Knowing you are as strong as you look is a main confidence booster.

7. Strength Training Is Better For Sports

Strength is the basis for all other physical qualities. Increasing your strength increases your power, explosiveness, speed, agility, endurance, etc

Plus, a lot of sports - especially martial arts - require athletes to have high relative strength. They need to be very strong for their size because they have to stay within a certain weight class.

There’s nothing worse than putting on 20 MORE pounds of muscle you have to carry down the field, or move around the ring to avoid getting knocked out - and that 20 pounds of muscle is doing you no good.

8. Strength Training Is Better For Women

Nearly all women don’t want to be like the hulk. They don’t want to gain 20 pounds of muscle. They just want to get “toned”. As I mentioned earlier, strength training is the greatest way to get the toned look.

So if you’re a girl you can get strong very quickly and improve your health and quality of life without taking away from your femininity in the least.

Do I have to do this alone?

One of the hardest things to do is to quit smoking. And when you’re just beginning the journey as a non-smoker, you can feel very isolated and alone. One of the keys to success of becoming a non-smoker is to set up a support system. Whether it be family support (be cautious in who you choose), online, or at a local smoking cessation meeting, having a support system is vital.

There’s several free online message boards on the Internet that those with limited time may find to be a valuable option. It will help you connect with other people who are trying to stop smoking as well; it’ll give you a place to talk about your withdrawal symptoms or other challenges that you are facing with your new lifestyle.

Once you have found a message board you like, dig down and you will probably find that it is broken down into differing areas that correspond to the stage of quitting that you are currently in. And as I’ve said before, even though you think your particular situation is unique, you will most likely find that others before have encountered the exact same situation.

Enlisting the support of family and friends, in most cases can be very helpful. One of the only drawbacks to this would be, that sometimes family and friends think that they are being supportive when in actuality by them reminding you over and over not to smoke they can actually be pushing you towards a relapse.

Many family members and friends mean well and think they’re being encouraging by doing this, when you’re going through withdrawal symptoms and are naturally more agitated, this can be detrimental to your success. Sometimes just discussing this with them, before your quit day, can help nip it in the bud and make it a smoother transition.

One other option is a local smoking cessation meeting that is usually held at a community church, health care center, or sometime even a school. Most of these groups meetings are held either at no cost or very low cost, so everyone can attend.

They are often about an hour or two long, where you get to meet with others who were going through the same thing that you are. One of the advantages of this type of support system is that you have face to face contact and can develop relationships with your group members. Having a buddy to quit smoking with, or call upon, if you’re feeling like you’re going to have a relapse can assist you in remaining a non-smoker.

Although some methods of support are better than others, the important thing is that you have some to begin with - before you quit smoking. For without the support, quitting smoking is going to be one of the hardest tasks you are ever going to do. No sense doing it alone.

Learn Which Are the Best Knee Strengthening Exercises

If you need to get fitter but are being held back because of problems with your knees then take a look are the simple knee strengthening exercises below.

If you suffer from a condition called chrondromalacia patella this first exercise will be really useful. This is a condition caused by the softening and degeneration of the cartilage underneath the knee cap ‘patella’. It usually occurs when the muscles and bones of the knee are out of alignment.

Sit comfortably in a chair, you need to be relaxed. Bend your legs as you would normally sit on a chair with your feet on the ground and your legs bent at 90 degrees, tense your thigh and hold this position for 5 seconds the release, change legs are repeat. You need to do ten reps on each leg. I told you it was easy!

It is very important to remember to breathe whilst doing these exercises.

If you want to build up a little more strength in your knee you may want to try the following exercise.

Sit in a chair again, then cross your bent legs at the ankle. Push your legs forward with the rear leg then push them back using the front leg. (At first this can seem a little tricky but it is really easy once you get used to it!).

Rearrange the position of your legs by changing the direction you have then crossed at the ankle. If the right leg was in front, move it to the back. Repeat this exercise 10 times for each cross-over position.

Calf Burns

Now for something a little more strenuous.

Depending on your balance and the surface you’re standing on, you may need to do this on a mat or carpet, or on a wooden floor. Avoid using a cement or metal floor.

Stand upright, heels together, toes a little apart. Make sure to keep your balance.

Lift your heels up, balance on the balls of your feet. Try to imagine an invisible string fixed to the centre of your head pulling you straight up. Hold this position for five seconds, then lower yourself down slowly. Do ten reps of this. Eventually as you build up strength in your legs and increase your balance, you will be able to increase the amount of time you can stay on the balls of your feet.

To intensify this exercises a little try bending your knees whilst you have your heels raised. By doing this you will also be using the muscles in your quadriceps, hamstrings and buttocks. Remember to straighten your knees then lower your heels. Do ten reps.

If you can make sure you carry out these knee strengthening exercises a couple of days a week or better still daily, you will have strong, healthy knees in to time at all.

Excuses aren’t welcome when it comes to quitting smoking!

Just listen to anybody who smokes and quite regularly you’ll hear things like “I’m going to try and quit smoking, just as soon as I (fill in the blank)”. Perhaps you’ve heard them say these things a number of times and now you just don’t listen. Know what I mean?

First things first. Get out a notepad and spend some time writing down the exact reasons that are driving you to rid yourself of this habit. Then once you are done with that, turn the page over and jot down all the reasons (excuses) you might make to justify why you haven’t.

Why have you been telling yourself these lies? For that’s exactly what they are. Repititious lies that you’ve been leading yourself to believe over the years. And whether you like it or not, tell yourself these lies long enough and pretty soon that’s all you’re going to believe. Better to write your goals AND excuses down and analyze them for what they really are.

I’ve listed some of the more common excuses here, but ultimately it is your responsiblity to list EVERY reason you think keeps you smoking.

“I’m afraid that I’ll gain weight if I quit smoking.”

The blunt answer to this one is ‘who cares!’ Studies have shown that you are better off to be 70+ pounds overweight than to smoke when it comes to your health, but that’s not a goal you are looking to attain either. The truth is that yes, some people do gain weight after quitting, but this is usually less than twenty pounds and if that frightens you, then this problem can be easily remedied by careful and detailed planning before you quit. Get it through your mind that you are not going to substitute food for cigarettes and if you do, it is healthy foods like celery, carrots and fruit, not candy bars, chips and other ‘comfort food’.

“I enjoy smoking too much to quit.”

If that were truly so, then chances are you wouldn’t be sitting there now gathering information on quitting, would you? Don’t worry. I’m not picking on you. I used to say the very same thing. Making statements such as this creates one major issue. And that is the fact that the more times you say it, the more you become to believe it. I’ve said it before. So time to come clean and be honest with yourself, is smoking really that enjoyable or is it just a fallacy you’ve convinced yourself to be true? What is it that you think smoking gives you? More money, better health and cleaner, fresher breath? Looking at it from that angle and writing down the answers will show you that you really don’t enjoy smoking that much at all.

Now don’t take those statements as viscious or cruel. In no way are they meant to be that way. What they are meant to be is a wake up call - and one that I needed as well. If, as smokers, we keep making excuses as to why we continue the habit, the outcome is that we will remain addicted to the nicotine. And the sooner we realize this reality, the easier quitting will be.

Don’t doubt your abilities to beat those lies. You can do this.

Now as you learn about every section of what that cell is made up of, draw it on the cell and color it. Now put the points about that section in a block of text, under the cell. Border the block of text in the comparable color you used on the region in the cell. You will instantly be capable to learn your notes, visualise the color, and speedily reference where it is in the cell. Using the colors is helping you to visualise and associate info.

Vegetables and fruits are great for vitamins, minerals and fiber. Green vegetables are also good since they boost your alkalinity levels and stabilize acidic foods like meat. Here’s a few “problems” you’ll run into eating like this though:

* Allergic reactions - if all you eat is dairy and eggs you for protein, then you can run into lactose intolerance, acne, or other allergic reactions from all the dairy food

Low Testosterone - meats, eggs, and dairy products have saturated fat and cholesterol which enhance testosterone. If your T levels are down you’ll have a reduced amount of muscle, less strength, less energy, lagging libido, higher body fat, and less of an “ambition”

Excellent Sources of Protein for Vegeterians & Vegans

If you’re lacto and/or ovo it’s easy. Just don’t eat meat and follow my other eating clean rules to get your protein: eggs, milk, whey protein, cheese, etc. If you’re vegan, there’s some other sources of protein:

* Beans. Black, garbanzo, hummus, kidney, fava, winged, mungo, lima

* Legumes. Lentils, peas, cow peas, chick pea, snow peas

* Whole Grains. Breads, granola, quinoa, oats, brown rice …

* Protein Powder. Rice protein, hemp protein, soy protein …

* Milk. Soy milk, rice milk, plant milk, coconut milk, almond milk …

* Soy. Soy cheese, deli-style soy meats, soy milk, soy beans, tofu …

* Nuts. Walnuts, almonds, pistachio, cashew, peanuts, peanut butter

* Seeds. Pumpkin, flax, sesame, hemp …

The Student’s Guide To Human Physiology

Earlier we get into a discussion about human physiology let’s elucidate what it is . It is the procedures of human beings in good health. Specifically associating to the biochemical, mechanical and physical functions. This includes the organs and the cells that represent these organs. So essentially it s a subject of the way the body operates, and anatomy is the study of the form of the human body. Human physiology can be very entertaining and is not just meant as knowledge for the medical profession.

And So to put things in average English or laymen’s terms, lets look at numerous of the systems, their fundamental organs and their works.
The brain, and spinal cord are two essential organs of the nervous systems. It Is from the brain that the primary senses like visualise, hearing, taste and smelling comes from. Then evidently there is something within us that accumulates data about our environment and that’s those ordinary body parts such as the ears, eyes, nose and tongue. If you were to learn this system, concerning to the nervous system then you be learning neuro physiology which is a class of human physiology.

Then there is another general system made up of the skeleton and the muscles. This is addressed the musculoskeletal system. The task this system has is to keep us together and develop blood cells which is done within the bones. Here your are reading cell and musculoskeletal physiology .

The heart, arteries, veins and capillaries are all categorized unitedly to build the circulatory system. The heart is accountable to pump out the blood to transfer oxygen and other fundamental matters throughout the body. This entails cardiovascular physiology

We recognise that the lungs are the ordinary organs of the respiratory system, but do not forget to include items such as the nose and trachea in there as well. Since you just read this you have read some respiratory physiology. Just touching on these three systems has introduced you to learning the human physiology. It doesn t appear quite so complicated when you put it this way.

Therefore this is all very entertaining, but why does it actually matter to the layperson or the non medical person? I imagine it all counts on your outlook on what is important to you. With the shortage developing in the medical profession. the responsibility is beginning to fall on you to be a little more knowledgeable as to what is going on with your body. Possibly it could be seemed at as a preventative measure. If you recognize what your body is suppose to be performing, and so it doesn’t appear to be doing that, and then you can have it checked before a small problem becomes into a big one. That does not mean you should fall into the pitfalls of self diagnosis, or turning a hypochondriac, it simply means being educated.

Let me give you an/a illustration. If you were in school taking a really essential course and it implied your entire futurelife to you, then obviously you’re putting everything you can into acquiring about it true? You are entirely dependent on your instructor who provides you with the knowledge. At Present let’s say the teacher can only teach you the time that he ordinarily was.
